My First Chinese Troops

Finally got me a small unit of chinese troops:

Did you paint the horses and the armor pattern designs?

Hey lookin' good. I just saw Hua Mulan and A Battle of Wits the other day so this is nice timing.
The BrickTW stuff looks really good. I really want to get a hold of some sometime.

The horses are from the Prince of Persia LEGO set, they looked like they would work for persians and Chinese so I used them for such.

yes the BrickTW stuff is awesome since it fills such a nice niche in the Ancient Chinese genre and so many options, not too mention you can use any color minifigs for the troops since the chinese army uniforms were very colorful.

but sadly he is lacking in a good historical bow for my archers, but thankfully we have BrickForge to save the day with their recurve bow.

Good choice with the collection there.
I'll have to remember BrickTW when I get closer to finishing my LU Samurais.

Nice army you got there! I agree that BrickTW is great for when you need some ancient Chinese Secret accessories.... I've used the one armor for my "Kyoshi Warriors" and the chromed flame-bow as over-sized ornamentation for my samurai officer's helmets...

That would be one big helmet topper, as it goes I find his armor and helmets and arrows and such excellent, but on the other hand his weapons are made in the anime genre type, and while those are great for others, not so much for me.

I found his pole arms were not as bad, but I agree with you about his swords. They are quite large. Very "Final Fantasy" like in scale.

yes his one spear i'm using on my troops is just perfect for them, but had to look for a good sword for my cavalry which wouldn't look obscene, which wasn't easy.

But don't get me wrong there are alot of people who love those over sized swords and such for Anime figures.
